YORKSHIRE WATER - Val tabled Caroline's very extensive report which, where applicable, was discussed (Val to thank Caroline for work involved in preparing the updates) Val also advised that the two computers very kindly donated by YW have been collected BUDGET FOR 2004 - was deferred to the end of the meeting to allow perusal of tabled information POLICE UPDATE - Although there was no report members noted the minutes from last CC Beat meeting. REPORTS FROM OTHER MEETINGS
b) Bradford Chamber of Commerce Local Affairs - 5/11/03 (Eric) items discussed included :- Bradfords New Masterplan (which Eric said was being endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce but discussions will continue ) - Riot Damages Act (where the Chambers comments were very similar to ours ) West Bowling Golf Club (the Chamber of Commerce is actively supporting this application) Economic Development Strategy for Bradford (the Chamber of Commerce has been asked by the Council to identify at least 5 priorities crucial to Bradford's future - to which they have responded ) Eric concluded by advising that he had had a very enjoyable evening at the Chamber of Commerce Dinner which was held on 7/11/03 Val then advised that the Brag meeting was held on 6/11 (Mary was unable to attend as she is in America -but Val tabled details of subsequently agreed Xmas trading dates etc. ) The next West Yorkshire meeting is on 25/11 (followed by a Christmas party & raffle ) And also note - There are ongoing attempts to resurrect the City Centre Steering Group, and Val gave details of comments made by several interested parties who are supportive of the groups re-formation (Eric provided our response) ANY OTHER BUSINESS 1) Bradford Bulls - Val advised she had sent a letter congratulating them on the Grand Final result and all achievements during the season In response members agreed that it would be almost impossible for any team to repeat the Bulls success. (subsequent to meeting acknowledgement from Brian arrived) 2) Morrisons - The President advised he had sent a letter to Sir Ken congratulating him on his recent Award from Grocer magazine, and Val read out Sir Ken's response. 3) Membership - Val advised of a visit to a member re membership renewal 4) Printer - consumables Val pointed out that as costs of new printers are coming down and consumables seem to be going up, - should we consider buying a new printer rather than same money being spent on cartridges etc. In response it was agreed Val to use her discretion on which way to proceed. 5) Bradford City F.C. - members noted the recent request for financial support from the business community - which appeared to have had little positive response. 6) Jim & Betty ( update) Val advised how Jim & Betty are continuing to enjoy their retirement (Val to pass on our Best Wishes) BUDGET FOR 2004 After extensive discussion on all information prepared by Val it was agreed our membership fees will be increased by approx 4% applicable to all subscriptions due on or after 1st January 2004. It was also accepted that Val's fees will increase in accordance with amounts agreed at this meeting (part retrospectively for this year and full amounts in 2004) DATE OF NEXT MEETING The next meeting was fixed for MONDAY 8TH DECEMBER 2003 and will be held at Gleave House commencing at 6.30pm In closing the meeting the President thanked all present for their attendance and contributions. |
